We're delighted to announce that miXabroad has been recognised with an IEAA Excellence Award for From Anecdote to Evidence: A Global Benchmark for Learning Abroad
The award recognises the development of miXabroad's global benchmarking platform, which brings together student voice and comparative evidence to help universities understand the impact and experience of learning abroad.
Developed collaboratively with researchers and university practitioners across Australia, the UK, Europe and the US, miXabroad enables institutions to benchmark student experiences and outcomes across programs, cohorts and countries, providing valuable insights into what students gain from international experiences and where programs can be strengthened.
Presenting the award, Jane Johnston, Chief Executive of StudyAdelaide, highlighted the importance of this work:
"At a time when international education is being challenged, this powerful and growing evidence base helps demonstrate the value of learning abroad and the critical role it plays in developing adaptable, resilient and globally capable graduates."
Emily O'Callaghan, CEO and Co-founder of miXabroad, said the award was a wonderful recognition of the collective effort behind the platform.
"This award is a fantastic recognition of the people who have helped turn an ambitious idea into something genuinely valuable for our sector.
Greg is an incredible problem solver and solutions finder. He has an extraordinary ability to take complex challenges and turn them into practical, innovative solutions. Pete brings a different but equally important strength: he's a brilliant storyteller who understands the power of evidence to build a compelling case for the impact of learning abroad.
I'm incredibly grateful to both of them, and to our Advisory Council, whose expertise and generosity have helped shape the platform from the outset. And, of course, to our founding partners, who believed in what we were trying to achieve and worked with us to test, challenge and refine the approach.
We've always believed that learning abroad has a profound impact on students. What excites me most is that we're now building the evidence to demonstrate that impact, strengthen programs and make a much more compelling case for the value of international education."
Established in 2008, the IEAA Excellence Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of individuals and teams to Australia's reputation for quality and innovation in international education.
As IEAA President Jon Chew noted, the awards recognise the people and initiatives helping to advance excellence across the sector.
